This coffee table features a bookmatched Walnut top and bottom. The client wanted a low coffee table to go along with their sofa height. The low height also allows them to use the table even from seated down.
The aim of this coffee table design is to bring equal amount of attention to the base because most of the time, the base is neglected or serve as a functional component. The final design for the base makes use of the beautiful grain pattern found on highly figured Claro Walnut that could also compliment the curves and clean lines.
The stretcher with tusk tenons are locked with Ebony wedges with carved ends. The multi-faceted texture on the wedge’s end helps to conceal hammer marks from tapping during assembly.
Built with a knock-down concept, the top attaches to the bottom via sliding dovetail joineries and finished with a hand rubbed oil finish.
Materials: Walnut, Wenge & Ebony
